Leonid Keller’s artistic process begins with an exploration of pre-existing images. They are chosen specifically for their association with ideologies, political fanaticism, the abuse of power, and cultural identity, drawing on references that are not arbitrary but deeply rooted in our collective visual memory.
By rearranging the material into fictional constellations of visual, textual, formal and colour elements, as well as objects, historical and temporal bonds dissolve, allowing new narratives to emerge. Leonid Keller aims to create imagery that addresses societal issues and challenges our approach to dominant worldviews.
Leonid Keller’s work incorporates various media, such as collage, drawing, sculpture, screenprinting, photography, and video.
